Never compete, CREATE! Earl Nightingale

2024 TOIR Logo Design Competition

Thunder Over the Indain River fireworks, also known as TOIR is an Independence Day celebration the entire community looks forward to every year. This event is put on by the Port St. John Community Foundation. PSJCF founder, Randy Rodriguez along with others helped organize the first fireworks displays in Port St. John and continues the tradition. He is a longtime resident, local realtor and the man behind HAPPENINGS Magazine that is delivered to most all of Port St. John. Randy is also responsible for the PSJ Christmas Parade each year, and for the past 34 years.

Each year a new TOIR logo design is used on T-shirts, print, web, and social media marketing.

Last year the SCHS Media Department students under the direction of Candace Harlan at SCHS designed our event shirt.
It would be a great addition and recognition to any student portfolio.

We depend on donations and sponsorship to hold events throughout the year.

Student Designs

The Port St. John Community Foundation is hosting the 2024 Thunder Over the Indian River Fireworks Display on Saturday, July 6, 2024. We are excited to work again this year with the Space Coast Jr/Sr Highschool's media department to have SCHS students design our t-shirt for 2024.

We will start accepting designs in March and will stop in April or when all designs have been submitted. The winner will be announced before the end of the school year. The winning design will be printed on all shirts worn by the PSJC founders, members, and volunteers. It would be a terrific addition to a design portfolio. The winner will also be announced on all our advertising and social media which during event times reach 12,000 or more PSJ and Brevard County residents. Your design will be available to purchase by residents and students. Consider entering the contest and put your own mark on this traditional community celebration! We want all of you to use your imagination to create a work of art that will be remembered in the TOIR archives.

All contest submissions will be judged by a panel of three local judges. It is our intent that the winning entry to be used in various print media, banners, T-shirts, etc. as well as all online advertising. The winning entry will become a historical part of SCJSH! Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First Place: $100, Second Place: $50, and Third Place: $25, in the form of gift cards.
