Welcome all Chili Chefs!

Thank you for our 2nd ANNUAL Fay Lake FestiFALL Chili Cook-Off. Below you will find the details for entering your chili. Please note we do welcome vegetarian and gluten free chilis though it is not a requirement.

This event is sponsored by the Port St John Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves and benefits the residents and businesses
of Port St John and Brevard County.

The Chili Cook-Off will take place at the Lake View Pavilion at Fay Lake Wilderness Park on Sunday, November 13th from 3-4:30pm. Winners announced at 5:00pm.

There is no entry fee. The first 10 entries received will be chosen to compete. To enter download and fill out the Entry Form and return it to us by email no later than November 9th.. Chili Cook-Off entries will be able to sample other entries for free.

You will need to provide:
• Participants will supply their own power, extension cords and
10x10 tent for individual serving with appropriate distancing for safety.
• Bring 1-2 crock pots (approximately 6-12 quarts) of
Ready to Eat chili (as in hot, not cold or frozen)
• Serving utensils
• Condiments of your choice

We will provide tasting cups, utensils, napkins, beverages, and corn bread.

There will be winners for 1st Place Judges Award, and People’s Choice Award,
each with an accompanying prize and/or trophy.

1st Place Judges Award: Chef’s Culinary Knife, 1st Place Trophy, 1st Place Winner Apron and acknowledged in HAPPENINGS, on the Happenings.net and PortStJohnCommunityFoundation.com web sites.

People’s Choice Award: People’s Choice Award Apron, Trophy and acknowledged in HAPPENINGS, on the Happenings.net and PortStJohnCommunityFoundation.com web sites.

Bring your family and friends to cheer you on!

Tasting Tickets may be purchased 2 for $1. The tickets purchased will be used to vote for and determine the People's Choice winner. The PSJCF Chili Cook-Off Judges Team (TBA) will determine the 1st Place Judges Award.

Report to Tia Mahan at 2pm for set up instructions on event day. Tasting will begin at 3pm and end at 4:30. Judges will announce winners at 5:00pm.

COVID PLAN for Fay Lake FestiFALL

The Port St John Community Foundation partners with the Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department North Area Parks Operations for our community events. For the safety of those that attend, participate and volunteer we support and adopt the same guidelines they recommend.

COVID-19 continues to be a danger to the health, safety, and welfare of the public, including exhibitors, vendors and volunteers. Additional measures are needed to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and protect the public.

Please understand everyone plays a part in lowering the impact within our communities and workplaces by taking every day preventative actions helps to impede the spread of respiratory diseases such as COVID-19.

World Health Organization's (WHO) Protection measures for everyone:

• Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
• Maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
• Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
• Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.
• If possible, avoid traveling to places – especially if you are an older person or have diabetes, heart or lung disease.
