The Port St John Community Foundation is a public charity serving the residents and businesses of Port St John and Brevard County. Established in 2019 by dedicated community volunteers, the Port St John Community Foundation in partnership with our generous sponsors, are building the resources that serve our community.

The foundation holds community events throughout the year, including an Annual Golf Classic, Thunder Over the Indian River Fireworks Display, Fay Lake FestiFall, Corn Hole Tournament and the PSJ Christmas Parade. And adding events that the community would have interest in bringing to Port St John.

Foundation founders Randy Rodriguez, Tia Mahan and Andrew Procell have long served the PSJ community and continue to do so through the Port St John Community Foundation. Read more about the Port St John Community Foundation founders on the ABOUT page.

Newsletter, by Randy Rodriguez and other writers in our community will keep you up to date with the latest PSJ news and current information on how the county impacts our community and our events. HAPPENINGS is printed monthly and delivered directly to over 12,000 homes in the Port St. John, Cypress Woods and Canaveral Groves communities of Brevard county for over 30 years. Monthly newsletters along with weekly on line updates can be found at HAPPENINGS.net.

We encourage business participation. There is no charge to join and our intent is not to require donations or volunteering for membership. The foundation is for all and everyone is welcome to participate in events and meetings. Our vision is to bring the community of Port St John together for growth and success and to enhance the well-being of present and future generations.

Why we need the Port St John Community Foundation?

Port St John is unincorporated which means we are a community within Brevard County that is not governed by a local municipality. Being unincorporated, we are subject to county taxes and fees but services like waste management and emergency protection mostly come from county resources. We do not have city elected officials or city police protection. Our community is not eligible to receive a municipal share of revenue-sharing funds necessary to hold events specific to our community as other incorporated cities in Brevard County receive.

Through the years, it has been our churches, our school PTO and PTA groups, our youth sports groups and our volunteer organizations like the Jaycees, American Legion, Relay for Life, the original Thunder Over the Indian River group and the PSJ Christmas Parade Committee who have created and run the community events in Port St. John. The county does not fund any Port St John community event. We are left to our own resources to raise these funds. The BSCO has always been a great supporter of Port St John and the county Parks and Recreation also partners and helps with many of our events.

The Port St John Community Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to raise the necessary funds that if we were incorporated would receive from the county.  Every position in the foundation is volunteer and those participating and donating their time and services are volunteer.  We encourage resident and business community support to guarantee keeping our unincorporated family community strong with the growth Brevard County is experiencing…Today, Tomorrow, Together.

PSJ Cares

We all have friends and neighbors suffering unforeseen circumstances trying to make ends meet. Communities come together to help and support one another. The Port St John Community Foundation PSJ CARES is here to help families in need.

In 2020 PSJ Cares selected Port St John resident Paul P. Paul was nominated for assistance as he stepped up to care for his kids and his wife who passed from brain cancer. Paul had to miss work and has extensive medical bills to pay. Losing a loved one due to any illness is hard enough. Being unemployed with a family to take care of is another common issue right now. We wanted to band together as a community to help each other out.
